Batgirl's New 52 Costume Returns in DC vs. Vampires: World War V #6!

Batgirl's New 52 Costume Returns With a Seriously Spooky Twist!

Batgirl's Iconic New 52 Costume: Back From the Dead (and More Sinister Than Ever!)

The New 52 era of DC Comics is a seriously divisive thing! But there's one awesome thing almost everyone can agree on: Batgirl's black-and-gold costume from that era! It's still considered one of her best looks– even ten years later! But that's not the only thing. This costume signifies that Barbara Gordon is back and things just went way darker.

DC vs. Vampires: World War V #6 (written by Matthew Rosenberg, art by Otto Schmidt, and coming January 8, 2025) is going to be massive. It continues the epic three-way war—vamps, human resistance, and Damian Wayne's vamp army. We're talking a total showdown, with Mister Miracle and his baby becoming targets for a new foe!

But before the actual comic drops; the variant cover—by Ejikure—gives us a massive spoiler; it shows a detail, not to be underestimated: Batgirl. It shows Batgirl's New 52 suit returning. This is huge!  Because she's supposedly dead after being attacked in earlier parts of the series! She has apparently survived.  This signifies how sinister things actually became.

That New 52 suit’s a classic, for good reasons: it captured that iconic feel and improved it immensely! Yet there are huge changes: That classic suit gets reworked– with a major addition: those creepy glowing red eyes from under the cowl. That shows her return as a seriously evil Vampire Queen Barbara Gordon (of Earth-63)!

But there is more: this isn't simply an evil makeover—they added details which were originally unseen; those golden Batgirl symbols became bat wings! Similar to Nightwing’s bird emblem, demonstrating the incredible depth which makes this more detailed design so iconic. That DC vs. Vampires version now also incorporates shades of orange and blue on her limbs and even upgraded that golden utility belt! This entire creative overhaul creates something seriously amazing and iconic.

That New 52 suit might not actually be shown in the comic itself; yet it remains appropriate, signifying Barbara's return from that earlier, deadly confrontation, during her confrontation involving a previous attack by one of Damian’s vamp fighters from issue #1. This is really implied by the cover in issue #5, finally made obvious in this specific upcoming title. That “return from the dead” seriously changes everything—the new suit’s part of that symbolic reclaiming of power, perfectly fitting to what actually happens within the ongoing narrative.

That amazing cover is so much more than just a pretty picture, folks.  This awesome redesign tells its own complete story; completely justifying itself as being far more than that simple plot device originally thought for! This new design delivers a huge visual impact; hinting toward a significantly darker chapter within that ongoing story arc.

Expect some insanely dark battles and those surprisingly intense plots within issue #6; the arrival of the Vampire Queen Barbara Gordon itself demonstrates that these kinds of things only generate greater anticipation within that ongoing war! The intense build-up is something this whole series has been exceptionally good at. Prepare yourselves; because getting all that context built over these issues just ends with something completely exciting!
