Star Trek's Council of the Gods: A Gathering of Powerful Beings
Star Trek just dropped a massive reveal: the Council of the Gods! This powerful group, known as the Pleroma, is made up of iconic characters from across the franchise's history. In issue #21 of the Star Trek comic series, Captain Sisko and the Theseus crew are brought before the Pleroma. The council has gathered to decide on the Organian issue.
The Pleroma features some big names! Trelane, Apollo, Charlie Evans and the Metrons from the original Star Trek are all present. Kevin Uxbridge from Star Trek: The Next Generation is also there. And the Caretaker, who played a key role in Star Trek: Voyager, joins the ranks of the gods.
The Threat to the Pleroma
The Pleroma faces a threat unlike anything they've ever seen. In 2022, IDW relaunched their Star Trek Comics with a "god war." Klingon Emperor Kahless unleashed a powerful weapon, killing many of the gods. While Captain Sisko and Worf managed to stop Kahless, the damage was already done. This brings the Pleroma and their role in the universe into the spotlight.
The introduction of the Pleroma is a significant development in Star Trek lore. The various shows and movies have featured god-like beings for years. The Pleroma shows that these beings are just another race in the universe, with their own laws and governance. However, they operate on a much larger scale, deciding the fate of entire species.
The Pleroma: Vulnerable or Invulnerable?
While the Pleroma seems like a safe haven, Kahless' attack proves that these beings are not invincible. Lore and Kahless are still out there, and the Pleroma would be a prime target. Section 31, a secretive agency, has a mysterious device that they plan to use, which could pose a threat to the Pleroma. The gods may appear powerful, but they are not invincible, as Kahless has shown. The Pleroma, despite its power, could be in danger.
