The End of an Era: My Hero Academia Wraps Up with a Satisfying Ending
After 10 long years and a massive fanbase, the My Hero Academia manga finally concluded in chapter 430. Like any grand finale, the Ending has a lot of people talking, some happy, some bummed. But it really does wrap up Kohei Horikoshi’s epic journey in a way that sticks to the story’s heart - those important morals that make My Hero Academia so special.
There’s this big epilogue section that plays out after All Might took down All For One. It feels a bit different compared to those super quick final chapters most shonen Mangas throw in. Here, we get an extra set of chapters that explore all the big changes since the heroes won, the everyday struggles for the folks of society, and how the hero and civilian world have kind of mixed up since the villainous dust settled.
Not All Might but Not Just Any Guy: The Power of Ordinary People
You might think heroes like All Might are the ones we focus on at the end, but the Final Arc surprisingly highlights these normal folks. A brand-new character shows up with some kinda disturbing backstory, the new first-year students are starting at U.A, and, there’s even the return of the old lady who ignored the bad stuff with young Tenko Shimura - the future villain, Shigaraki! It's as if Horikoshi’s trying to say "Hey, the heroes are cool, but it's those everyday people, making everyday choices that matter too."
Think of those early chapters and how everyone kind of relied on the heroes. Then came those awful villains, who kinda reminded everyone: “Wait, it's not always about being powerful, it’s about making those good decisions even when no one’s watching”. Those scenes where those everyday people are actually pitching in and getting things done, after being scared to death - those were powerful, for real! That moment with the old lady, helping out someone in need - maybe if she had been like that when Shigaraki was little things would’ve been different!
My Hero Academia’s Big Finish: Deku's Dream (and Maybe a Little Love)
So here’s where the questions start flying! Remember Deku’s been kinda into Uraraka for years, right? In that big, final war, she confessed how she felt, and, it made us wonder, will the romance finally be a thing in the end? Everyone was so hyped that we even got to see Deku with Uraraka, kinda looking lovey-dovey, all snowed up together…but the thing is, the details are still missing. Did Horikoshi go all dramatic, “oh I left you guessing!”, on us? Fans will say, "No! We wanted those kisses!”
We got to see Eraser Head and Present Mic looking really down in those final chapters - turns out, they’re paying respects to a grave, it’s all super mysterious. And then, everyone wanted details. "What happened with those super-important characters? We wanna know everything about those first-year students!" You know, these minor details that add to the story. It felt as if everyone got a nice big 'A Good' mark on their test card, but nobody got a top grade.
Deku Gets a "Gift" from His Classmates (and What Could’ve Been)
Deku and All Might in the final chapter really mirror the first time those two characters ever met! So that part of the story is awesome. As for Deku, he might have left being a powerful hero, but, like a proper good boy (remember those “No.1 Hero!” shirts everyone wanted) he gets his "gift" – that suit his friends made to give him the chance to still be a hero, even if his powers are gone! You know, it kinda fits. And what a cool way to see those characters end their big journey, as heroes.
The final chapters had this Batman/Iron Man vibe to it - if a normal dude wants to be a hero, they need a power boost. Yeah, that could be good. Some people complained because that suit seemed like it kinda took away Deku's “no powers but determination” power. You know what? That whole "teacher role" still works, even with that fancy new suit. And, I bet those villains have no idea it's Deku, hiding behind his cool, new hero gear. Let's not forget, almost every UA teacher had a super-secret hero persona, right?
My Hero Academia: An Epic End and What Comes Next
The My Hero Academia Ending wasn’t perfect. I’d be lying if I said all the questions were answered, and you can't exactly satisfy everyone's demands in an ending. However, it still felt like a proper send-off for those themes of kindness, compassion, and courage. And even though some things are vague, it leaves you thinking and wondering.
In all honesty, that whole 'What Comes Next?" thing will continue even though the manga is done! There's still a world of My Hero Academia Anime content, movie trailers to come, spin-offs. A story's never really over when it’s been loved so much by a big fanbase. The last arc might’ve been bittersweet, but the real takeaway? Anyone can be a hero. And that, well, that’s worth celebrating.
