Fans had been really trying to find a compelling background! That would explain just how he managed to evolve to becoming this super evil, dark character who has such awesome and terrifying power. As the manga concluded in the latest chapter, we did get some great answers!

You could really go back and see that this is a big event that unfolds over the course of these chapters. But as this all culminates, we may just have some understanding of how this really went down.

You get this really interesting moment in chapter 237 where "Jujutsu Kaisen" asks Sukuna if he was born strong and as the King of Curses, he answers that while he doesn't recall his birth. He just knows that he was considered a really "creepy kid!"

Fans and translators have taken this deeper.

That might be a major clue for us! There are translations of the original Japanese, suggesting that he really meant "an Unwanted child" as a child, with maybe some birth defects!

We might even know a little more about what he could have looked like from a detail that surfaced in chapter 257. Sukuna devoured his twin. This is even seen with Sukuna's appearance - it really shows these multiple eyes and multiple mouths!

There were three choices he was given in life! We know a bit about these characters but in the final chapter, Sukuna, said something quite disturbing that there was nothing he could do!

One of Sukuna's major motivations might just be a longing to seek vengeance from those who cast him as some evil thing.

It appears there are lots of ways to see this from a perspective of society and how Sukuna was born! And even more from his mother's life as it really highlights those issues that can impact any person! And his mother was hungry so there were real issues around her caring for him. He went on to become a figure who had this power! But you might see, that it's something very familiar! There's a theme that the creator "Gege Akutami" uses quite often in Jujutsu Kaisen - cursed figures who get ostracized by society!
