Dragon Ball: The Ultimate Guide to Every Series

Dragon Ball is an epic franchise! The adventures of Goku and the other characters of this franchise has touched hearts and amazed audiences all around the globe.

Even though the manga series wrapped up back in 1995. You might not know that this amazing franchise has continued on with seven, yes, seven, different series that have made this series a global sensation, and keep on generating content to this day!

What really kickstarted things, it all began way back in 1986 with an animated version, as it appeared on televisions for all fans to see! That is when things really started to take shape.

A New Universe:

Let's go back to how it all started, for those of you who have never had a chance to get a look at this truly epic world!

It really set the stage! Those who missed the initial release will be able to understand its global popularity. What was so exciting about the original series, is the animation was just so amazing! Akira Toriyama's original Manga is so creative and just full of energy!

If Dragon Ball didn't come out so long ago, the franchise might not have had the impact it did but there's plenty to appreciate and fans still think it's the greatest part of this crazy series, full of interesting twists, turns and crazy power moves. The initial episodes really took you back to Goku at a younger age.

This isn't the start of Goku's adventures, it's actually one that is very well put together and might leave fans feeling like it should have lasted forever!

An Epic Adventure- Dragon Ball Z

For fans of the original series, Dragon Ball helped shape those awesome fighting Anime that would become super popular later on!

While Akira Toriyama wrote a whole lot of amazing manga stories over the decades and even those that came later than this original story would still keep those titles of the same name as his "Dragon Ball"! You know things had to keep changing as Dragon Ball Z was released as the sequel series that made things even more spectacular!

Fans know what a monumental moment it was for this series as Dragon Ball Z started to get aired worldwide and in every region around the globe! It really took over.

  • It even came just a week after the final episode of Dragon Ball. That's right, April 26th, 1989 was its release date, one that many might have looked forward to.

If anything Dragon Ball Z showed how intense things could get! The story went from its origins, to discover that Goku had alien heritage!

  • The special power from this new bloodline? He was from Saiyan.

These warriors made up Saiyan planet! Which was destroyed years ago. The original story just got an expansion that few ever expected.

Fans were amazed by how much energy Goku was able to gain. It even brought him a major rival, someone who was so close that the two have been through some of the most epic battles.

That was Vegeta, and it would give audiences one of the best villain pairings in history. While those two were able to make an incredible rivalry. There were plenty of others who appeared, from Frieza and Cell to Buu, they are some of the most unforgettable villains of all time!

Fans have a hard time picking which of the two will win but Goku and Vegeta will have their ultimate showdown in the final Dragon Ball Super arc!

A Story With No End- Dragon Ball GT

Fans loved Dragon Ball Z, but we couldn't resist one more adventure for this series. And that meant that after the conclusion of Dragon Ball Z, a few years went by but the world wanted more of this crazy adventure! There's even more story to tell with the introduction of Dragon Ball GT! That's a truly unique sequel that keeps Goku's story going on with those cool characters! This series was broadcast the week after Dragon Ball Z's final episode, as we approached the month of May 1996.

  • Akira Toriyama wasn't all in! You know his time was valuable, he did add some things, just like designing the look of certain characters and getting his creative approval about certain storylines!
  • Goku got turned into a kid in this new release. This new episode would become an instant classic!

The entire storyline went a bit further, even outside of what everyone expected as this was set around ten years after the original Dragon Ball Z finale, and this story brought up a new threat!

The world was getting attacked by the Dark Star Dragon Balls that had so much power to blow up our earth. If anyone thought this story was getting more wild with each series, they were right!

An Updated View:

There's more to Dragon Ball! But you know it! Those who loved to binge the classic shows got a new chance! What had become a series of very long episodes that gave a different perspective and was much longer than any other series! They had 291 episodes, so many, that sometimes made the whole series feel a bit boring as you got caught up in all the repetitive actions! Well, this got updated. And they created Dragon Ball Z Kai, as well. This made everything a bit easier.

  • They were able to make the series shorter, and the animation was enhanced for those of you who loved that classic look. The number of episodes was cut nearly in half to 167. That's still a lot but more streamlined. It got fans to love Dragon Ball Z more!

So many fans of Dragon Ball Z love to have those extra filler moments!

What really revived this series? Well, Dragon Ball GT had some mixed feelings. People had a really good experience, however, Dragon Ball Super, the series came with a new kind of impact!

It really looked like a lot was put in! Even with some rough moments! The series even got a bit shaky for the original season or so. "Battle of Gods" and "Resurrection 'F'," the amazing animated films gave the series a big push that made things even more intense! In the end, the series, got an incredible refresh and audiences had a chance to get "Dragon Ball Super" at its most compelling! The epic battles, the characters and even those transformations.

It's hard to talk about a world of superheroes without some wild stuff happening! This is where Super Dragon Ball Heroes, comes into play, it was made to bring in all kinds of new excitement for the series' trading card games.

  • It was released, but only with really short episodes that were between ten to fifteen minutes in length. That might give you an impression of the series overall, and maybe not be as much of a binge.

It's not like it's super popular! Because it’s so fast, there's a lack of those major storyline aspects, that gave these shows their major power! You can imagine this "Super Dragon Ball Heroes," would never compare with Dragon Ball Z, right? What's also so special about the show's dynamic? The storyline isn't so much in those non-canon video games, and just keeps tossing those action figures into new, insane, fun events!

If you can believe it. Akira Toriyama will return as a key part of the franchise with a brand new animated show! You know that he is a super big, popular and influential person in the anime and manga world! "Dragon Ball Daima" is what's coming up! And while we don't have a whole lot of information about the series. Toriyama had plenty of involvement! The story even looks to take us back into Goku's history before those super powerful "Gods of Destruction."

For now we just have a premiere date, on October 11!

Dragon Ball Daima! This series might bring an end to Goku's stories and "Dragon Ball has so much to give as well.

Fans can look back at the history of the entire series! As the "Dragon Ball" legacy gets even stronger as the years go on!

The series took off way back in "the 1980s" as Akira Toriyama started making this legendary franchise that has made an immense mark with the help of Dragon Ball Z. Dragon Ball had its beginnings as a manga, and went on to make waves in animation, as a beloved show around the globe. If you aren't a "Dragon Ball" fan you are missing out on all those big, powerful, and memorable moments! It's easy to see how this franchise took on so many new adaptations in the video game world!

It has really grown in the years that have come since it's release!

Even after such a successful "Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero" hit! The franchise is going on with new episodes. For sure, there is so much more out there!
