Dragon Ball Daima: Meet the Voice Cast – Japanese and English!
Dragon Ball Daima: A New Generation of Voice Actors!
After a year of hype, Dragon Ball Daima finally arrived on Crunchyroll on October 11th! This latest Dragon Ball series is visually stunning—a real masterpiece. But the voice acting? That’s another story! The trailers showed impressive visuals and amazing animation—it really did sell itself extremely well; those visuals themselves create such incredible expectations. However, not a single voice actor was initially used. The choice not to use voice acting helped enhance this visual spectacle, instead choosing this creative approach by prioritizing this kind of visual approach which clearly showcases their dedication for that specific presentation format and made a creative choice that impacted marketing directly! Now that Daima’s out? The main voice cast has finally been revealed, including the returning greats and plenty of new awesome talent, folks!
The Daima Cast: Japanese and (Some) English Voice Actors
Goku (Mini): A Legendary Voice Returns!
Goku (Mini)? This mini version will be voiced by the legendary Masako Nozawa (Japanese) and Stephanie Nadolny (English)! For Nozawa, this is just another amazing Goku role; this veteran has voiced Goku across decades! She's also voiced T0-B1 in Star Wars Visions and Guilmon in Digimon Tamers! As for Nadolny, this role in Dragon Ball Daima is another significant one; this marks the return after an amazing 10 year plus break! Many of you likely know her from voicing K.O. in OK K.O.!
Supreme Kai (Mini): A New Voice Takes on a Familiar Character!
The usual voice of Supreme Kai (Mini)? It's usually Shin’ichiro Ota! However, this new iteration has Yumiko Kobayashi on board, this legendary voice actor is mostly known from some of these really impressive other roles. These titles really demonstrate what made this veteran become well-known: Black Star in Soul Eater, Shin-chan in Crayon Shin-chan, Izzy in Digimon Adventure:, and Elesa in Pokemon! The English voice actor is not announced yet for this character. And that makes many viewers want this information available; yet another aspect of anticipation in a much larger puzzle of releasing these new Dragon Ball episodes. The mysterious, undisclosed English voice actor has already generated enormous discussion; adding even more value to all that makes Dragon Ball so iconic!
Vegeta (Mini) and Other Characters: A Young Voice for a Prickly Prince
The kid-version Vegeta (Mini) is another key part of the narrative; the casting choice highlights this particular change. His typical voice, Ryo Horikawa is completely out! Instead; they picked Yudai Mino ! This is Mino’s first significant part but he voiced various minor characters before; his career is poised for huge gains with this appearance in Daima. We currently don't know who the English version uses, yet.
Piccolo (Mini)? Another change. Tomohiro Yamaguchi replaces Toshio Furukawa in the Japanese dub (another mystery surrounding his English counterpart!); and Bulma (Mini)? Here we see another significant shift as Mai Nakahara voices the tiny version (her English voice actor's a mystery for now, too!)
Glorio: Two Voices For This Enigmatic Ally
Glorio gets the special distinction of getting confirmed voice actors across both versions—Japanese (Koki Uchiyama; whose past roles showcase how skilled he actually is; it would make many viewers interested. Many will recognize him in other anime: Shigaraki in My Hero Academia, and Meruem in Hunter X Hunter!) and English (Aaron Dismuke; also known for Alphonse Elric in Fullmetal Alchemist and Senku in Dr. Stone)! His dual casting is particularly memorable for a new Dragon Ball character; showcasing how important these characters will actually become later on in the story. It also greatly heightens the intrigue around that initial casting selection of the characters!
The Villains of Daima: A Lineup of Impressive Voice Actors
And it is especially important to not overlook those evil counterparts. Those baddies have some awesome voice talent as well!
- Gomah (Japanese: Showtaro Morikubo, famous for Shikamaru in Naruto, Yosuke in Persona 4) (English remains unannounced yet)
- Degesu (Japanese: Jun’ya Enoki; mostly known from voicing Yuji in Jujutsu Kaisen). (English also remains unannounced yet)
- Dr. Arinsu (Japanese: Yoko Hikasa; most known for Mio in K-On!). (English still a mystery yet)
- Neva (Japanese: Hiroshi Naka; famous for his roles in One Piece and many others). (The English voice actor's unknown as well)
These mysterious unannounced English voice actors are an essential and intriguing part of the larger storyline surrounding Daima's release, providing additional hype surrounding these very interesting moments. Those mystery castings themselves greatly impact the amount of interest!
