Marvel's "Agatha All Along" Tarot Deck: A Witchy Must-Have!
Get ready, Marvel fans and tarot enthusiasts! Marvel is unleashing its official "Agatha All Along" Tarot Deck and Guidebook, hitting shelves July 8, 2025! Inspired by Agatha Harkness from the hit Disney+ show, this deck brings that mystical world to life with 78 beautifully illustrated cards and a 128-page guidebook by author and astrologer Andrea Hannah and illustrator Brittany Horn.
This isn't just some random merch. This deck is based on the actual tarot spread used in Episode 7, "Death's Hand in Mine," of "Agatha All Along"! Remember that epic tarot scene with Lilia Calderu (Patti LuPone) and those crazy time-bending revelations? Now you can recreate that magic yourself. It completely takes advantage of that episode’s success and capitalizes on all that existing intrigue already presented. It adds immense opportunity to capitalize on fan engagement and existing engagement around those core elements and plot points around the characters.
The deck uses the classic Rider-Waite format, so whether you're a tarot beginner or a seasoned pro, it’s easily accessible. The major and minor arcana cards are full-color works of art, bursting with details for Marvel fans. Those incredibly stunning artwork’s are completely crafted to immerse anyone into Marvel’s magical world; further drawing on the thematic elements shown in the various previous episodes, really creating an immersive experience only possible through recreating many scenes found in those prior episodes that fans adored!
But that 128-page guidebook? This isn’t merely filler text; those descriptions really showcase the intent behind each individual tarot and the reasons behind those cards’ creative process and importance to the larger thematic elements present. It adds so much additional value. It offers interpretations for every card, providing extra tips and unique tarot spreads. The authors themselves worked incredibly hard and deeply integrated aspects found within the Marvel universe.
We need to mention just how huge Episode 7 was, which made this new tarot deck release all the more necessary, even brilliant! That mind-bending episode was entirely directed by showrunner Jac Schaeffer (who praised Patti Lupone’s performance). This completely amazing sequence features Lilia Calderu, whose seemingly random comments – what she calls “Lilia’s bops”— are key moments from her life played out-of-order. It showcases a key narrative point regarding how difficult crafting that specific sequence of events truly was.
Schaeffer and writers Cameron Squires and Gia King brilliantly wove together a storyline highlighting those extremely complex events surrounding the narrative design itself and is one of the main topics during that specific interview. This really required extremely significant effort which really couldn’t have happened without enormous creative passion from a really deeply-skilled and amazing production staff.
That coven’s tarot challenge; and all those falling swords? Those were all real swords which creates those very intense visual moments, emphasizing those feelings of suspense found in the larger narrative context of the show. It was extremely difficult and high risk!
One huge takeaway from Episode 7 is that Lilia finally figures out what was happening in this whole experience. It wasn't her. Rio Vidal (Aubrey Plaza), Agatha’s toxic ex; it wasn't just another witch, folks. She’s the classic Marvel Comics character known only as Lady Death! The creators obtained permission directly from Marvel to introduce Lady Death! Which totally changes viewers' perspectives about Agatha’s past and her whole character’s storyline. It creates another opportunity for storytelling not seen anywhere before!
The "Agatha All Along" Tarot Deck isn’t some afterthought. This beautiful creation is deeply inspired and clearly integrates those thematic elements and plot points only discovered by deeply analyzing the themes and characters in Episode 7. The gorgeous illustrations capture the show's atmosphere perfectly. And the inclusion of that insanely useful and brilliant guidebook adds amazing additional value, turning it into something far more worthwhile and a necessary addition to anyone interested in this kind of item; be you a dedicated Marvel fan or an avid tarot enthusiast, you really need to get your hands on this tarot deck!
