"Kids" is a special OVA, that will show you what happens 100 years after "Fullmetal Alchemist" came to a close!

You may even catch glimpses of the same kind of characters and moments. There is a sense of recognition that makes it all the more worthwhile.

In "Kids,", they have kids who seem very familiar and that are actually reminiscent of the Elric brothers.
They are traveling in a super-futuristic looking "modern day city" of a different world.

The episode really delves into that crazy kind of action-packed energy. Fullmetal Alchemist. You know it's a major part of the anime. You will even catch sight of some cool gadgets in a familiar setting, that bring in a few characters and themes!

We get to see those famous Fullmetal Alchemist Gachapon machines, the super special machines that generate a random item!

The story even takes us to "Police Box" in a city full of life, just like in the series! In "Kids," it is in London.

You might find these Characters who show up at a flat to see some things you recognize.

News clippings of Edward Elric. And if that wasn't enough the clippings even showed that Edward Elric was at a gathering with what looked like a very influential politician!
The most heart-warming and important part, was that there was a photo Edward shaking someone's hand in an event!

A very mysterious and compelling part to the story.

You find out that these kids go to meet with their great, great, great-grandfather who they wish a happy birthday from their great-great, great-uncle, Al.
You get the biggest surprise here! It seems that the date was "2005". So "Edward Elric" would be 100 years old! They are not talking about someone long dead! It appears he is living in this new world that we now know to be an alternate version of earth. It means Edward Elric is in our universe!

An Alternate World

The "Fullmetal Alchemist" universe doesn't end here, either.

The world "Edward Elric" lands in at the end of the original series was an alternate version of Earth in the World War I era. And they created this crazy story from the perspective of Edward Elric's story in some unique ways, with "Fullmetal Alchemist" as this incredible piece of fictional history!

It gets interesting, too.

This OVA revealed that "Edward Elric" even went on to have children, because it doesn't seem likely he would have great-great, great grandchildren otherwise!
Another big twist for "Kids", it seemed to include "Winry."
It's strange, because she never actually made it to the alternate Earth that Edward, and Al were sent to, as that was only about the brothers! It seemed there are plenty of clues and answers out there! Maybe she joined her brother Al! Maybe there is a whole different, amazing version of "Winry."

Even more fascinating! "Kids" seems to give some extra context for how the movie "Conqueror of Shamballa," and even the anime series were created!

Even with its questionable context and elements, "Fullmetal Alchemist" is one of the most-loved Anime of all time, and what may make the series even more compelling is its awesome storyline about two brothers, that will capture your heart.

There is so much to uncover, whether you dive back into the anime, or this OVA! This episode and this crazy journey of these brothers should not be ignored!

But, at the very least it is a wild look at an interesting, new element of the Series.
