Though apparently unachievable, eminent particle and gravity researcher Professor Nobuyoshi Ohta shows that this idea isn't totally ridiculous. Published on the official Dragon Ball website, his observations examine the scientific viability of the Room's time dilation, teleportation, and environmental characteristics.
Expert in gravity, Ohta draws attention on how time perception relates to gravity. He says that in areas of greater gravity time passes slower. Time dilation is a phenomena that has been noted in practical settings.
Ohta advises putting a villain in a high-gravity environment, such Jupiter or even the sun, to attain the time dilation effect of the Room Of Spirit And Time. Whereas the villain spends a day, a hero on Earth would have a year to prepare. On the other hand, since time moves much slower close to these massive objects, the event horizon of a Black Hole presents still another option.
Ohta computed that the time difference required for a year of training in a day could be produced by one billion Earth-mass Black Hole. But the strong gravitational forces close to a black hole represent a major hazard, thus this solution is useless for any kind of life.
Currently only found in science fiction, Dragon Ball's Room also boasts teleport ability. Ohta claims that present scientific understanding has not produced any proof for the existence of more than three dimensions. Essential for teleportation, folding space stays a theoretical idea.
Although most would be seriously at risk from the low oxygen and high-gravity environment of the Room, Ohta notes that everyone who survives would surely come out stronger.
