Dragon Ball Super Will NEVER Die: Artist Reveals Badass New Cover

The Artist of Dragon Ball Super is Happy of the Franchise

Part of the "Dragon Ball Super Gallery," a project commemorating the 40th anniversary of the franchise, the covers are created by well-known artists such One-Punch Man's Yusuke Murata and Hirohiko Araki of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. Toyotarou's is no exception; the covers are made to replicate Toriyama's artistic flair, producing some quite amazing creations. One could be excused for believing that this was Toriyama's original interpretation of the venerable Dragon Ball cover for volume 39.

Along with their cover, every artist has sent a message. Toyotarou's message addresses Toriyama personally a little bit as well as his thoughts toward his former sensei. According to him, Toriyama was never very proud of his own work; this was a quality Toyotarou valued in the man. Saying, "Now and forever, Dragon Ball will never die," he closes with congrats to the series on 40 years. The sentence definitely has a rebellious character, implying that Toyotarou is dedicated to preserve Dragon Ball and with it Toriyama's memory.

"Dragon Ball Will Never Die": Dragon Ball Super Artist Shows New Cover Using Badass Quote

With a fresh cover artwork and a quotation concluding with the forceful line, "Dragon Ball will never die," Dragon Ball Super's illustrator Toyotarou has unveiled his participation to the 40th anniversary Manga collection. The quotation seems to allude to Toyotarou's will to go on Super even now that Akira Toriyama has passed away.

Former Twitter user @SuppaChronicles posted the picture of the new cover online showing Buu and Mr. Satan in a car traversing a wintry terrain. While the party as a whole is being pursued by the ghosts of the slain Red Ribbon Army, who are apparently rising from Muscle Tower, one of the Red Ribbon Army's headquarters, on the cover behind them is a car carrying Goku and Eighter. Along with the cover, Toyotarou sent a note reflecting on Toriyama's original work while also somewhat discussing his artwork.

Although the future of Dragon Ball Super is still unknown, it is a comfort for fans to know that, at least, Toyotarou still as dedicated to Dragon Ball as ever even after Toriyama's passing.

Although it's hard to picture how terrible Toriyama's passing has been for supporters, Toyotarou—who regarded Toriyama as a mentor—must have found especially challenging. Though all the evidence points to Toyotarou being willing to carry on his work in honor of Toriyama, it is reasonable if he wished to temporarily break off from Dragon Ball.

Dragon Ball is a huge multimedia series spanning back to the 1980s from the creative mind of Akira Toriyama. Originally serialized Manga for Weekly Shonen Jump in Japan, Dragon Ball grew rapidly. It found its way abroad via a manga and an Anime version enjoyed all around. Originally commencing with the exploits of the young Son Goku as he pursued the Dragon Balls, Dragon Ball was the first animated series. Any person who gathered these enchanted balls would be granted their wish. The show would then veer off into the wildly popular Dragon Ball Z, which followed Goku as an adult and had high-intensity combat and Goku's never-ending drive to be the strongest. Up to the most recent successful Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, the series has also had multiple popular video game adaptations and still running several new animated series and theatrical movies.

Seeing how Dragon Ball's legacy will persist excites me, and it seems the series will be in excellent hands.
